Social Activities/Tours

The 2022 IACEE World Conference Planning Committee has coordinated several social activities for participants to network, explore area attractions, and learn about local businesses and initiatives. Note: All tour costs are included in conference registration except the winery tour.

COVID Protocol & Venue Requirements: Please be prepared to wear a mask inside each venue. Each participant must provide citizenship information as part of the conference registration process. The information will be used to vet participants with national security databases by the venues. Cleared visitors will be provided with accident and COVID liability waivers on the day of the tour. Requirements may be subject to change at any time, based on CDC and NYS guidelines.

Buffalo Manufacturing Works Tour

EWI is the leading engineering and technology organization in North America dedicated to developing, testing, and implementing advanced manufacturing technologies for industry. Buffalo Manufacturing Works, operated by EWI, helps innovation-driven organizations across North America excel by partnering with their internal manufacturing, engineering and R&D teams to deliver better products, grow, and compete. Located on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus in downtown Buffalo, the facility houses state-of-the-art equipment to facilitate applied R&D projects with members, as well as a team specializing in four primary technology focus areas: Flexible Manufacturing, Additive Manufacturing, Machining & Finishing, and Materials & Testing. 

Tour includes Automation and Training labs, Cold Spray Equipment – Spee3D and Centerline, Large Format Additive Manufacturing – RPM and Sciaky, and CT Lab.

Calspan Tour

Calspan’s Airborne Testbeds started as the research and development branch of the Curtiss Wright Aircraft Company in the 1940’s. The Hangar Tour allows visitors to explore Calspan’s myriad of flight testing at Calspan Flight Research Center, where the fleet of highly modified airborne testbeds includes two Gulfstream G-III’s, four programmable fly-by-wire Learjets, one X-62A Variable Stability In-flight Simulator Test Aircraft (VISTA) and a Penguin C UAV. Calspan is capable of testing numerous mission systems, including Jammers, Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) sensors, Multi-spectrum RF, Navigation, Datalinks, Radars, Small jet engines, and Satellite Communication Systems (SATCOM).

Maid-of-the-Mist Tour

The State University of New York at Buffalo is situated on beautiful Lake Erie bordering the breathtaking Niagara Falls, Canada. Visitors can enjoy the falls up close on the Maid-of-the-Mist, a sightseeing boat tour. The 2022 IACEE Planning Committee is making arrangements for conference attendees to enjoy this attraction!

Group Wine Tour

The Arrowhead Spring Vineyard produces wines that reflect the thoughtfully chosen soils and climates from which they emanate. They uphold a commitment to the principles of sustainable farming and seek a deeper understanding of the natural living systems around their vineyard. Note: This is an extra cost added to registration ($70 USD – includes transportation, tasting and paired appetizers).
